Delhi is a city of brimming surprises, as festivals, scintillating events and exhibitions are charming the capital. It is that time of the year, when everyone is on an exploration drive to savour diverse flavours and often end their search with Delhi, as an unmatched destination for street food. Here, flavours don't end and a dish as simple as Dosa has various mouthwatering flavours when cooked in a Punjabi kitchen than a South Indian one. To celebrate the tradition of food in the capital, Delhi Tourism came out with the concept of Dilli Ke Pakwaan in the year 2010 during the commonwealth games. Since then, the journey has been immensely successful and this time again, 5th in series, Dilli ke Pakwaan 2014 promises to be an authentic treat. Exclusive food items by nearly 40 participating vendors will make that perfect Dilli Ka Zaika.


In  a bid to give an organised space to street food vendors in the region and usher in a new wave of vibrancy in street food arena, Delhi Tourism in association with Govt. of Delhi is geared up to start this seven day street food saga in the capital. The festival will celebrate Delhi's love for street food. It is often said that love for food shows one's enthusiasm in life, Delhi loves to taste appreciatively, and there is no better festival than Dilli Ke Pakwaan to laud this culinary multiplicity. When it comes to delicious cuisine, Delhi perfectly plays its role as the capital city of India. Nearly all states find their respective authentic and twisted flavours scattered here.


Not only restricted to food, the Dilli Ke Pakwaan will be host to numerous activities like recipe competition, food photography crash course, expert food talk, musical evenings, art and craft section along with others. Dilli Dil Se, recipe competition cum food talk will allow people to freely drop their secret recipes and earn recognition, and pioneering expert from the industry will also be conducting talks on healthy food and special diets. Dilli Belly, a food photography workshop will impart the skill of clicking beautiful photos using basic camera devices/ mobile phones. Visitors will be given a chance to embellish the venue through on-spot paintings of auto-rickshaw installations, under the banner Rang De Dilli. The entire venue will be themed to showcase the vivid culture and traditions of Delhi. Cultural presentations, sale and presentation of handicrafts and handlooms items along with engrossing talk shows will be accompanying the foodies for a complete and delightful package. A musical delight, Delhi Unplugged, will offer melodious evening s full of genres such as Indipop, Sufi, Qaawali along with other youth centric tracks. Food being the major offering, the festival would be full of entertainment and series of activities planned throughout the seven days to enthrall the masses.


In a special societal welfare opportunity at Dilli Ke Pakwaan, an NGO Antardrishti, along with its sister project Antarkranti, will be given a platform to showcase its exquisite products at the venue. Antardrishti works towards the benefit of visually impaired, while Antarkranti helps in rehabilitation and reformation of prison inmates. All the revenue generated from sale of these products will go to the benefit of physically challenged people. From a wide range of aromatherapy products to exquisite handicraft products of modern art, the venue will be a bag full of admirable items and gastronomic delights.


Highlights of festival:

1) Dilli Dil Se, a recipe competition cum food talk: People can freely drop their secret recipes for prizes. Experts from industry will be conducting talks on healthy diet.

2) Dilli Belly, food photography workshop: Skill of clicking beautiful food pictures is being imparted to visitors free of cost.

3) Rang De Dilli: Visitors can paint different artistic installations at the venue.

4) Delhi Unplugged: Cultural musical and dance programs are being held every evening.

5) Societal Welfare Initiative: Exclusive products range by differently-abled of Antardrishti NGO are available for sale.


The entire venue of Dilli Ke Pakwaan is themed to showcase the vivid history and traditions of Old Delhi. Tomorrow's activities include lively cultural evenings along with blazing bhangra performance. A special food quiz and food talk will also be held on the venue. To mark the celebration of the Christmas, large number of people would be attending the festival to enjoy the festivities.
