Event Description : "Under Cold Stars - Sándor Márai (1900 - 1989)" Lecture by Dr. Margit Köves.

The literary evening will be held to commemorate Sándor Márai, the poet, playwright and 

novelist on his twenty-fifth death anniversary. He was primarily a prose writer, and his novels like Embers, The Rebels, Esther’s Inheritance, Casanova in Bolzano, and Potraits of a Marriage were written in Europe between 1930 and 1942. These have been rediscovered and translated into English and many other languages. Readings from his poems, essays and novels in English, Hindi and Hungarian original will present Márai, the “Noble bourgeois” and his philosophical preoccupations.
