Event Description : "Symphony in life" a solo exhibition by Shuchi Khanna.

About the works :
In the words of Pablo Picasso, “…to draw, you must close your eyes and sing!” …….and that is the mantra that Artist Shuchi Khanna follows. Her romance with her art work be it canvases, paper work or any other medium illustrates life in its purest form. Her latest obsessions, the lively City scapes are resplendent with radiant and lively features of nature. They are expressive marks with hues of copper, bronze and metallic backgrounds while her vociferous figurative seem to communicate with the viewer and lend you a virtual tour inside the inception life of the artist.

Extremely creative and talented, Shuchi amazes her patrons with her ability to be able to bring a flip side to her paintings, which comes naturally to her. She is overtly expressive at times and subtle at other occasions, she is very versatile, experimenting with all types of colour mediums like oils, acrylics, watercolour, gouache and her favourite Water Proof Inks. Her surface varies from paper, canvas, acrylic sheets, walls, doors to anything she can lay her hand on. She loves to expand her horizon of themes from love, agony, ecstasy, nature, daily life and many more. Her works ooze out positivity.

Awards and Accolades : 

The recipient of many awards and accolades, Shuchi received the Sanatan Kalakriti Puraskar 2008, while painting live to the tunes of Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Her art work, Conception, made her win the Guru Shishya Parampara 2008. In the year 2009, Shuchi received the Life Time Achievement Award and a Plaque of Honour by the International Congress for Women. She again painted live to the dance performance of an imminent dancer, at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi in 2009. Shuchi was also commissioned to paint for the British Prime Minister’s wife, Cherie Blair. Her Coffee Table book, Paintings made by her on destitute women was unveiled by the Honble former President, Ms. Pratibha Patil. Her paintings adorn the walls of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, the Prime Minister’s office, Nehru Center London, the Indian Embassy Berlin, Alliance Francaise, New Delhi, and International Congress for Women, Indian Cancer Society, Chinmaya Mission, External Ministry, ICCR and many more prestigious arenas. Shuchi also exhibited her art work at the Nehru Centre, London and the Tagore Centre, Berlin, being sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.

Shuchi was interviewed by the BBC, undertook the Weill Fellowship programme, at Carnegie Hall, USA and has been a regular feature in prominent print and electronic media channels

Shuchi is a quintessential multitasker other than being a renowned, technically qualified artist she is also an educator, Shuchi works as the head of department of arts, at the prestigious Sanskriti School, ChanakyaPuri, New Delhi.
