Event Description : Gati Dance Forum presents "Finding Inner Connections" Workshop by Swati Mohan.

Finding Inner Connections is a technique class designed to understand the principles of dance by using techniques from contemporary dance (Release and Limon), modern dance, classical ballet and yoga. The aim of the class is to find ease and efficiency while moving in space by deepening the inner connections present in the body and mind. We focus on understanding the biomechanical functions of the body by paying attention to the skeletal system and also on the use of breath and energy. The students will use the floor, wall, barre or a partner to find alignment, strength, flexibility and mobility which will help them in movement combinations during the class. We will also touch upon improvisation by using movement and text. the class will finish with a short meditation. 
Founder and director of Danza Performing Arts and alumnus of The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy, Swati Mohan is a dance artist, actor and a spiritual seeker. Trained in contemporary dance, jazz, classical ballet, yoga dance and bharatanatyam, she graduated in Zoology. Her approach to movement and creation revolves around organic connection between body and mind which in turn helps in breaking conditioned patterns. She is a visiting faculty in National School of Drama and her past works are “Glass on the edge”, “Doha” and “Ways of seeing”. She was invited as one of the choreographers for Prakriti Excellence in Contemporary Dance Awards, Chennai in 2012, Dance Omi Dance Collective Hudson & Brooklyn Looks East festival of contemporary dance, New York in Aug 2013.
