Event Description : "A Mexican Buñuel (Un Buñuel Mexicano)" Spanish documentary film screening as part of 'Buñuel in México' series.
Synopsis : From 1946 to 1965 the Spanish director Luis Buñuel directed 17 movies in Mexico, the country where he will live unitl his death in 1980. This documentary explores the mexican years of this great film maker, interviewing his closest friends and collaborators. After the screening the audience will have the opportunity of talking and debating with the director of the film, Emilio Maillé.
About the Director : Emilio Mailé was born in Ciudad de Mexico in 1963. He lived in paris from 1980 to 2005, where he graduated and mastered in French Letters by University of La Sorbonne. He has directed several documentaries for the French, Spanish and Mexican televisions, some of them related with Bullfighting and Cinema world. His first full-length “Rosario Tijeras” (2005) was a comercial success in Colombia and was formally launched in various countries. Currently he is a member of the national sistems of creators of FONCA. His most recent documentary is “Multiple Looks, the crazy machine”, dedicated to the photography of Gabriel Figeroa and shows interviews with the best photographers of Contemporary Cinema. It has achived a successful reception in Festivals arround the world in last two years.
