Event Description : "The Holocaust and A Lost Generation in Hungarian Literature" Lecture by Dr. Margit Köves.
The Lost Generation we refer to those Hungarian Writers and Poets who perished in 1944, some of the best writers and poets of their generation: Miklós Radnóti, Antal Szerb, Andor Endre Gelléri, Károly Pap, György Bálint and Gábor Halász. In the evening, we will be remembering their works and lives. Along with them, we also remember those who have helped in the survival of other members of the generation, that is, the poets János Pilinszky and Ágnes Nemes Nagy, and the Nobel-Prize winning writer, Imre Kertész. Their poems and prose will be read in English, Hindi, and Hungarian by students of Hungarian Language and Literature.
A violin recital will also be performed by Péter Foskolos during the programme.
