Event Description : "Shri Bhakti Poshini" A Guru Shishya Bharatanatyam Duet by Sudha Jagannath and Shiphony Pavithran Suri.
Brihannayika Culture Resource presents 'Shri Bhakti Poshini', A Guru-Shishya Duet Bharatanatyam Presentation by Sudha Jagannath and Shiphony Pavithran. Sri Bhakti Poshini celebrates the auspicious astrological occurance of Shri Guru-Pushyamrit Yoga which falls on 16th of October 2014. The day is wonderful for propitiating Goddess Lakshmi, the divine consort of Sri Mahavishnu. In accordance with this the evening will feature a composition in praise of Goddess Lakshmi, to ensure all round prosperity and fortune.
In keeping with our tradition of presenting new compositions with every presentation, the
evening will feature some unique compositions on Ucchishta Ganapati and Goddes Kali.
Brihannayika Culture Resource has the the honour of presenting some compositions of the
Late Bharatanatya Guru Sri Sadasivam with the cooperation of his sons, Sri S.Shankar anSri S. Satyanarayanan. This is in keeping with our efforts to bring to our audiences the great work done by our Gurus in the past. Brihannayika hopes to achieve this by choreographing dance for these compositions with a dynamic, modern yet distinctly classical approach that creates pathways towards aesthetic experience. We at Brihannayika seek to achieve a continuity of dance experience by bringing together a variety of compositional approaches, sensibilities and repertoire.
The evening features Sudha Jagannath, who has trained Shiphony Pavithran for well over
a decade in Bharatanatyam. Sudha Jagannath has trained and worked at a premier dance
institution in New Delhi and has worked with prominent choreographers in India and abroad. She runs the Brihannayika Culture Resource, an organisation that seeks to build up a wealth of dance compositions from both traditional sources and contemporary composers. Shiphony Pavithran is part of Brihannayika both as a performer and resource person. The evening's duet features the dancers bringing forth compositional ideas with classical sensibility and finesse.
