Event Description : Nehha had the chance to see this stunning production in Singapore's Esplanade Theatre on the Bay in June 2014 after it had premiered in Malaysia the same month. We have all been through experiences of Indian Standard Time and have often wondered about what time means to us and to someone else from another culture. Is time cyclic as Indians know it, or is it limited and is now or never, as the Western world sees it?Brahmakalpa: The Eternal Universe questions and seeks to answer all this and more. An Indo-Malaysian collaboration, Brahmakalpa features six excellent dancers from India and Malaysia and six talented musicians. Sanskrit and Tamil verses have been taken from traditional texts such as the Vedas and Sangam era poetry to explore the mystery between Time, Earth and The Cosmic Consciousness.
As a danseuse, the quality of the choreography and performance blew her away, but as an arts organizer, the appeal that a cutting edge Bharatanatyam group production had for the lay audiences in both countries, She knew she had to showcase it in India.
Bharatanatyam Choreography - Rama Vaidyanathan
Artistic Direction - Ajith Bhaskaran Dass
