About the Organization :
As you know, the recent floods in Kashmir were the worst in more than a century. A needs assessment report by Caritas estimated that approximately 2 million people were affected directly, and another 8 million indirectly. This level of devastation can only be assuaged with concerted efforts by all of us.
One of the things some of us are doing to help raise funds is a dastangoi theater performance. The funds, collected would be channeled though the Huzaifah Lanker Trust. It is a small family trust, founded in 2004 and based out of Srinagar, that has been involved with the most immediate needs during and after the flood: food, water and medicines. As the first stage of the relief operations draws to an end, we are looking at longer term rehabilitation of people who have lost, without any exaggeration, everything. The #StichOnePheran campaign is another of our efforts to raise funds.
