Event Description : "Khalwat" a solo exhibition by Prenita Dutt.

Surrounded by lush green foliage and openness of space, the newly furbished AADI  (Action for Ability Development and Inclusion) Art Gallery, is a unique space to hold exhibitions and shows. 

About The Collection :
A Sufi`s "Khalwat" is a place for inner retreat and solitude. It is bare and devoid of all distraction, a place that can enhance concentration and aid the Sufi along his spiritual journey.

Prenita’s ”Khalwat" is her studio, a place where all creativity begins, where she leaves one world behind and enters another. It is a physical space that helps her appreciate art, music, books and solitude. It is here that all thoughts and ideas float like condetti and settle down, and where one understands what Marcus Aurelius meant when he said,

"Nowhere can mind find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul.."

The artist relies on her inner world to supply her continuously with new thoughts and ideas. She bases her canvases primarily on the desire to capture a feeling of unity and oneness with the natural world. This is the main reason that her artwork abounds with foliage, birds and flowers.

About The Artist :
Prenita completed her education in Psychology from Delhi University and earned a degree in Education before joining a Delhi based NGO as a counsellor. She is a self-taught artist and had her first solo show in 2005. Khalwat is Prenita's fifth exhibition.

“As AADI inaugurates its beautiful gallery space, I am privileged and at the same time proud to be the first artist to show here independently,” said Prenita, who has been associated with the organisation for the last three years in the capacity of art mentor for people with disabilities.
