"Travelling- It gives you home in thousand strange places, then leaves you a stranger in your own land"- Ibn Batutta

The escapades of the 14th century nomad Ibn Batutta cant be summed be in better words than these penned by him. The traveller of Moroccan origin ventured into lands at the time when travelling for simply exploration was unheard. His travel writings on Delhi while working as a judge with who is termed the 'Mad Sultan' - Mohammad Bin Tughlaq gives a rich account of the glorious city through the eyes of someone who is considered one the greatest travelers of all time. Delhi Karavan on Saturday, 27th Sep'14 takes to to the voyage with Ibn Batutta, the tales of this great solo traveler, his account of Delhi and the mighty kingdom of the eccentric Tughlaq, the nomadic feet and its anecdotes of how he was aptly chosen to become the ambassador of then Sultan to Mongol. Doston, the event itself came after a lot of planning and a lot of research has gone into its making, this travelogue shall stay with you for a long time to come!

About the venue :
The Baithak cum walk shall be held at the fourth city of Delhi- the Jahanpanah. This patch of green amidst a residential colony throws surprises at every corner, some ruined structures, stoned pathways, and amidst ruins the grand palace of the Mad Sultan Tughlaq's ; the Vijay Mandal still holding ground despite encraochment and ignorance. The place is an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of surrounding areas and the sunset from the top of the palace gives a breathtaking view of Delhi far and wide. Something not to be missed!! We shall also visit the adjoining Begumpur Mosque, an architectural marvel, it is one of the seven mosques built by one of the ministers of Tughlaq, was in use as a madarsa even till late 17th century. The venue of the Baithak speaks volumes of the ancient glory created by the whims and fancies of then Sultan and how the current scenario has led to its gradual detoriation.

Story telling will be done in Hindi/Urdu
