All about That 80s Projekt & Leon Russell

That 80s Projekt is a Hard Rock supergroup, from Delhi, India, formed in the winter of 2013. The band’s lineup consists of:  

Vasav Vashisth - Vocals (Prestorika, Samarpan)
Saibal Basu - Guitars (Orange street, vimsy logic, Blitzkrieg, Grey Area)
Anirban Ghosh - Bass (Susmit Sen Chronicles, Grey Area, Syncopation, Harpreet trio)
Anil Chawla - Keys (Shubha Mudgal, Manic Bazaar, Grey Area)
Dilip Ramachandran - Drums (Parikrama, Contraband)

The band’s sound can be described as an innovative blend of rock and funk. They draw inspiration from bands such as Toto, Deep Purple, Van Halen and Dokken. 

That 80s Projekt is bunch of five musicians who have trodden far and wide on solo paths and have now come together for their musical expression as a unit. The band’s music is distinguished primarily by the tremendous energy and action they exhibit on stage, Vasav’s commanding vocals, Saibal's crazy guitar techniques Anil's harmonies and sounds on the keys, Baan's groovy bass lines and Dilip's master craftsmanship with his drum sticks. On a personal level, each member of the band is involved professionally with different facets of music. 

The core philosophy of the band lies in having fun on stage!

Leon Russell
Indian DJ/ Producer/Label Owner Leon Russell was born in 1984 in the city of Mumbai. Music runs in his blood, as from a very young age he was treated to the likes of classic rock legends such as Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, Scorpions, Queen, CCR and The Steve Miller Band. The real reason for his passion for music was his father who is also a musician. He got his first dose of electronic dance music in the year 1998, when techno parties were a rage in Mumbai. He started playing music at an early age of fifteen.
