Event Description : "Photopoetry : Octavio Paz in India" an exhibtion of photography by Subrata Biswas, Adil Hasan and Sudeep Sen.

Two young and talented Indian photographers, Subrata Biswas and Adil Hasan, and the Indian poet Sudeep Sen, have submerged in the poetry of Octavio Paz through the lenses of their cameras. The poems written by Octavio Paz when he was Ambassador of Mexico in india, “The Tomb of Amir Kushro", “In the Lodi Garden”, “The Mausoleum of Humayun”, “The Balcony”, have been portraited by the artists in a very special installation.

Biographies: 

Subrata Biswas: He is a visual storyteller based in Delhi. He done his education in software engineering, but was inclined towards visual arts right from school days. After working four moths in an IT firm, he quits the job to spend more time in painting and photography. He is a firm believer in new media and worksa beyond traditional media platforms. His photo stories has been featured in various print and online publications including Mint, Hindustan Times, Fountain Ink, Sunday Guardian, Enterpreuner. As freelance, he has executed projects for Greenpeace, AP and Reuters. Currently, he in working with Hindustan Times, New Delhi. www.subratabiswas.com

Adil Hasan: “I started studying, while I was in Auckland, the environs of people that I felt I could, in some vague way, relate to. These were either students or single working professionals living in small, cramped urban city apartments and housings (quite like mine). I wished to study the impact that they’d had on the living spaces that they chose for themselves, and try and perhaps find and define the thin line when the spaces start working their impacts and influences on the people.” Adil is a photographer based in New Delhi, India. He completed his photographic studies from Auckland, New Zealand.

Sudeep Sen studied at St Columba's School and read literature at Hindu College, University of Delhi. As an Inlaks Scholar, he received a master's degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York. Sen was an international poet-in-residence at the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh, and a visiting scholar at Harvard University. His books include Postcards from Bangladesh, Prayer Flag, Distracted Geographies, and Rain. Sen's writings have appeared in newspapers, magazines, journals, and broadcast on radio and television and have been translated into several languages. Sen has received a Hawthornden Fellowship (UK) and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize (US) for poems included in Postmarked India: New & Selected Poems (HarperCollins).He is the editorial director of Aark Arts publishers and editor of Atlas. www.sudeepsen.net/index.php
