About the play : “All the fires the fire” is the title of a book of short stories by CortĆ”zar, published in 1966. Considered as one of his best books of short stories, it compiles eight tales with elaborate composition. It is also considered as a classic in Spanish literature, and some of them as models of his work. The stories take place in Cuba, Paris, Buenos Aires, a mediterranean island and the ancient Rome. In them CortĆ”zar creates a dual world where the characters can go in and out, like images in a mirror, using sometimes the way of writing a tale inside of a tale, in order to prove to the reader than that external reality is no less fictitious than the inner one.
About the theater company : Kaivalya Plays is a small group of independent Delhi theatre practitioners with three major goals: to create a stronger presence of women in the arts, present scientific concepts on stage, and encourage new talent to work as one team. In just over a year of operation Kaivalya Plays has introduced a new format of theatre with the staged radio play “The War of the Worlds”, revived dramatised reading as performance in “Love Letters”, picked up the Best Short Film award for their debut cinematic production “Creamerica”, picked up the Best Director award at the 48 Hour Film Festival for their second
short film “Game of Souls”, a Best Actor award at the Short+Sweet 10 Minute Theatre Delhi festival, and introduced two new writer/directors to the Delhi stage. Most recently Kaivalya Plays adapted Reginald Rose’s “12 Angry Men” with Natuve – The Theatre Society of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College changing the central theme to reflect modern times and changing two central roles to women.
