Event Description : "India on the works by Octavio Paz" seminar.


About the author : Octavio Paz (1914-1998) was a Mexican poet, writer, essayist and diplomat, Nobel Prize of Literature in 1990. He is recognized as one of the most influential writers of the 20th Century and one of the greatest hispanic poets from all the times. He was also Embassador of Mexico in india since 1962 to 1968, a country wich marked his works deeply, as we can see in several explamples of his wrtitting like “Glimmer of India”, “The Gramatic Monkey” or the poems book “Ladera este”.

Synopsis : On this round table the audience will know more about Paz and his works, including his poetry (by Caroline Dubois -Toulousse University- and Subhro Bandyopadhyay –poet-), the influence of India in his life and works (by the hispanist Shyama Prasad Ganguly, Malabika Bhattacharya, and Indranil Chakravarty), and also his thoughts and essays (by Minni Sawhney -Delhi University- Carlos Varona -Instituto Cervantes-, and Meenakshi Sundriyal –JNU-).
