Event Description : 'Daddy' Hindi Play by Mahesh Bhatt.

A theatrical adaptation of Mahesh Bhatt's Hindi classic, Daddy is the story of role reversals is a unique fairytale. It tells the story of a princess and her father and how her courage broke an evil spell to make happily ever after possible for them.

Synopsis :
Buoyed by the stupendous success of arth's theatrical adaptation , Mahesh Bhatt has now zeroed in on his next play, based on his classic film, Daddy. And Imran Zahid has been roped in to reprise the role of the father, played by Anupam Kher on Screen. Now the hunt is on for an actress to enact the role of the daughter, originally played by Pooja Bhatt.

Elaborating on the choice, Mahesh Bhatt say's" After the success of Arth's theatrical version, I thought that Daddy, too ,was a kind of movie that could be brilliantly adapted for the stage.

It has same raw human emotions and naked truths about life and hence, can have a similar kind of impact." Said Bhatt.

Upbeat about his choice for the lead role, Bhatt said Imran was the right choice. " I think he has the discipline and the consistency required to take up projects and deliver quality stuff. Not everyone has the tenacity to take an idea from inception to its finishing point,"the director said .

The play, directed by Danish Iqbal, will open on August 4 in the capital.
“The description of the play is on the shoulders of Danish Iqbal, who is an able director,” Bhatt said.
“At a time when, people are moving towards film industry from theatre, it is a good sign that such a renowned director is giving importance to stage,” said Iqbal, adding, he will try to do justice to the film’s subject.

Rajesh Kumar who scripted The Last Salute and Trial of Errors is the script writer.

Pooja bhatt, Who made her big-screen debut with the movie, is excited that the movie is coming alive on stage and that a fresh face would be portraying her role ."I'm glad to do it , as Daddy was my debut film as well . I had a few offer for commercial movies at that time , and I remember that Bhatt saab had asked me if I'd like to be known as an actor or a star, as he wanted to offer me a film that would be mention in my obituary I'm glad that Daddy touched the lives of many people. The issue is still relevant today and I hope this adaption is going to be a success,"Pooja said.

Imran Zahid , a Bhatt protege who played the lead role in the stage adaption of Arth as well , Said This role is very special for me. Bhatt sahab has left direction but to portray a character from one of his classics fills me with nostalgia. Its a dream come true.

Anupam Kher, too, is happy about the decision."It"s good that the audience will get a chance to witness the movie and its emotions live on stage. I always admire Bhatt saab for his Ingenuity," he said, adding. "When plays can inspire movies, Why can't a movie inspire a play.
