Event Description : 'Tyger Tyger' play as part of Saksham Theatre Festival 2014.
“Tyger Tyger “ is the only play written by Khushwant Singh. The plot is based on the interaction of tourists who are trapped in the guesthouse of a forest and are disturbed with the reports of a
prowling man eater. Amongst them there is an American couple, a British hippie an Indian ex- Maharaja and an uptight bureaucrat who indulge in condemning each other. The play describes the dislike of natives of different countries for each other even at a time of globalization and internationalization. Normally a dangerous situation or an anxiety for survival brings the people together, at least emotionally. However as the conversation reveals that the characters
indulge in acerbity and insulting each other before the unexpected denouement.

Writer : Kushwant Singh
Khushwant Singh (February 2, 1915 – March 20, 2014) was an Indian novelist, lawyer, politician and journalist. An Indo-Anglian writer, Singh was best known for his trenchant secularism, his humor, and an abiding love of poetry. His comparisons of social and behavioral
characteristics of Westerners and Indians are laced with acid wit. He was the recipient of Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India.

Hindi Adaptation : Mahendra Kulshrestha

Design & Direction : Sunil Rawat
