About Jantar Mantar : Jantar Mantar (Yantra - instruments, mantra - formulae) was built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur.
He found existing astronomical instruments too small to take correct measurements and so he built these larger and more accurate instruments.
