Event Description : 'Khwahishen' Hindi Play.

Modernity comes with a baggage of its own. It has provided several advancements in life. Development of metropolitan cities and the day to day technological inventions are changing lives much faster than before. The connectivity between each human is at its peak. Telephones, internet, social sites and several other popular mediums have provided us several means to connect with people - known and unknown. This has opened up various possibilities in human relationships. Man-woman relationship has its own historical, civilizational and societal baggage which also is changing rapidly. This relationship at present is looking at new avenues, new outlook and newer freedom. It is celebrating its new diversions which are more liberated and progressive than before. The meaning of love, commitment and physical intimacy has been redefined by this new turn. It has travelled very far from the earlier hegemonic/conventional/orthodox man-woman relationship. Today’s youth express their love and sexuality in a different paradigm and they celebrate it rather dumping them in a corner in the name of morality and absurd values.

‘Khwahishen’ is a tale of three young Turks of our contemporary time, who don’t succumb to the tried and tested way of life. They have chosen a career of their own and they live their independent lives in a metropolitan city, a city which grows bigger day by day but limit our periphery of human relationship. The broader our social contact expands the lonelier one feels in their lives. They struggle with their loneliness in their lives to find love and right to their sexuality. They express themselves in a totally liberated manner in which there are neither any rules nor regulations. They do everything to please themselves and at the end find themselves lonelier than earlier. Finally, they chose it as a way of life and celebrate it. The tussle between ego, love, freedom and many others become the essential area of discussion in the play.
