Event Description : “From India to Spain: Gypsy Language & Literature” a talk Rosalía Pérez González.
Synopsis: We will never be able to truly understand the Spanish language and culture, neither teach it, if we forget about a milenary people who has been part of the Spanish legacy for centuries: Gypsies. In this conference we will talk about their contribution to the Spanish language, their undervaluated oral tradition, the catharsis of flamenco and the long travel that some words have walked through the world, as long as the distance from India to Spain.
About the speaker: Rosalía Pérez González has a degree in Spanish Philology from Universdad de Sevilla and a Phd in Spanish Literature from Universidad de Puerto Rico. She has reasearched the Estern influence in the Spanish literature, 20th and 21st century poetry, mysthic literature and flamenco. She is currently teaching Spanish at Jawarharal Nehru University in New Delhi.
