Event Description : 'My Favourite Hungarian Poets, My Favourite Hungarian Poems - Day Of Hungarian Poetry' Lecture by Dr. Margit Köves.

Hungarian poetry has always generated interest in India, and a number of Hindi poets were interested in translating Hungarian poetry. The most outstanding Hungarian poets Sándor Petőfi, Endre Ady, Attila József, Miklós Radnóti, Sándor Weöres and János Pilinszky are relatively well-known in India. Other poets, Ottó Orbán, Gábor Garai and Ferenc Juhász who travelled to India as part of the Cultural Exchange Programme in the nineteen seventies and eighties came to be known to a number of writers and their work was also translated into several languages in India. On the Day of Poetry this year, we invite Indian translators to ask them what attracts them to Hungarian poetry, who are their favourite
