6th April 2014, The Wave
About the play: It was in the decade of sixties that a history teacher in California, took to educate his pupils the lessons of history through an experiment which made its space in the history as the 'Wave' movement.
Ron Jones, the same history teacher tried explaining his pupils that ignorance towards the history may lead to the repetition of horrendous mistakes done by the mankind in the past as it happened during the NAZI Germany. He forms a student brigade through forced discipline which is accepted by his overwhelmed pupils. To his surprise he finds that his experiment turns into a big success. He kept watching his pupils turning into Gestapo just like in NAZI Germany. He himself leads the experiment to an unknown destination from where it seems to go out of his control. Eventually, he too fell prey to his own experiment and turned into a dictator. Later the spell was broken by the effort of his own wife and the other citizens who made him realize that the experiment had made Satans out of their children. This experiment was, in later period translated into a theatrical script by the noted German playwright and a theatre therapist Reinhold Tritt.

7th April 2014, Jungli Jaanwar
About the play: Jungli Jaanwar based on “The Brute” a story written by Anton Chekhov and translated in Urdu by Ms. Bilquis Zafarul Hassan. Jungli Jaanwar brings to this ageless war a vivid battle between Mrs. Khan and Nadir Changezi. Mrs. Khan is determined to faithfully mourn her unfaithful husband while Mr. Changezi is an equally determined creditor bent on hounding the widow for the repayment of his loan. This war of words escalates, and soon in utter frustration, Changezi challenges the “grieving” widow to a duel. When Mrs. Khan proudly accepts, sparks begin to fly, but not sparks of contempt. Changezi finds in her defiance an overwhelming attraction that he cannot fight. As the play ends, the proposal for a duel is rescinded and a proposal of marriage is issued instead.
About the Group: Antraal is the vision of two young men – Azam and Akbar Quadri, who wanted to create a space where theatre can grow and achieve new heights. They realised that more than being a profession, a trade, theatre, is a commitment and a passion which cannot be bound by rules and time limits. Thus, Antraal was born, in December 2007, with the implicit idea that this will be a group for all those young professionals who love the stage but also have other life and professional commitments. In the last four years, Antraal has grown to become a sanctuary for all those for whom theatre is not a hobby but a desire for art which cannot be put on hold, till life allows. This has been the spirit which has fuelled, 5 stage productions spread over 7 performances and 3 street plays spread over 20 performances in the past years.

8th April 2014, Ek Kanth Vishpayi
About the play: Written by Dushyant Kumar, the play Ek Kanth Vishpayi like AndhaYug is an extremely prominent poetic script where mythological characters like Brahma, Vishnu, Shankar, Indra, Kuber etc. depict the current condition of culturally ruined orthodoxies where people are still relying on the so called ritualistic beliefs which are dominant since many years now. The play opens with “Prajapati Dakhsh's” anger towards Shankar talking about why he has not invited Shankar (his now son-in-law) to the grand programme that is being organized and how his (Daksh's) daughter, Sati, who feels disgusted by her father's behavior has come down to a heated argument. She also tells her father that she would commit 'Sati-pratha' if the programme is executed without Shankar's involvement. Further, the play revolves around 'Sarvahat' who depicts a common man and is treated in the worse possible manner under the notion of 'healthy politics' and war that Shankar is looking forward to, against Brahma and Vishnu in case Brahma does not spell life, back into Sati. Brahma continues to make Indra (who is angry and aggressive against Shankar) understand that WAR IS NOT THE PROBLEM NOR THE SOLUTION whereas Vishnu is seen playing his mythologically hypocritical character. Sarvahat, in the meanwhile, cries out his anger and aggression to the audience towards the climax of the play which reflectsthe voice of the current common man who is very much seen to be dominated by plutocratic politics.

9th April, Aao Natak Natak Khele
About the play: The play portrays the conundrum of human life wherein the basic requirements take a backseat and an illusion of a colourful prospect takes over. While it is an attempt to showcase the human condition and social issues personified as humans, it is also a sharp attack on an entire civilization sickened with religion and mindless devotion. Body, mind, money, respect and power are those modern five elements for which the human lives, dies and kills. They form the face of the human reality. But apart from them there exists a neglected and overlooked truth of the entire human race – hunger, which even today stays hammered on the forehead of every civilization. This play attempts to question every so-called modern and civilized society. The philosophy of karm karo phal ki ichha mat karo (Fulfill your duty without expecting its reward) is also in the firing range.
About the Group: Formed in 2005, SEHAR is a dynamic group, composed of different sections of society including thinkers, academicians, journalists, social scientists, activists, research scholars, art practitioners, & students aiming for the change required in time. The group takes off with the basic need of expressing and communicating the problems of the marginalized and underprivileged section of our society. The group took its shape with the production of Sudhanva Deshpande's play 'Raat Bahut Ho Chali Hai' in 2006. 'Teri Meri Kahani Hai', 'Hey Ram!', 'Suicide' were its early productions which created credible space in Delhi theatre circuit and received attention. The groups' recent productions like 'Jee Humen To Natak Karna Hai', 'Launda Badnam Hua', 'Haan main Savitribai Phule', 'Sabse Udaas Kavita', 'Khwahishen' in last one year have created ripples in Delhi with almost 20 shows performed in different cities across India.

13th  April, 2014, Maskhari Duniya
About the play : Theater has always been and remains one of the most influential and dynamic means of entertainment. Today the art of the theater is losing its essence and its true identity. In Maskhari Duniya, Through the relationship of an artist with his mentor/director, the art of theater is has been redefined in a satirical approach. How and why this deterioration has taken place is the main focus of this play. MashkariDuniya is an attempt at portraying the struggle that theater artists go through in the pursuit of their artistic goal. It is a poignant telling of the complete devotion that actors have for their craft and many sacrifices that they willingly make to achieve perfection. It is a critical, undiluted foray into the world of the theater artist who for all his sweat, blood and tears is under appreciated for most if not all of his lifetime.

14th April 2014, Sita Gali
About the play: Sita Gali narrates the story of 'Chhano', a manual scavenger, and her relationship with the upper caste residents of Sita Gali. It is a microcosm of the hypocrisy of the Hindu society about its ideals of 'vasudhaiva kutumbakam' and 'humanism' when faced with a challenge to the caste system which structurally exploits the lower castes and subjects them to permanent poverty and humiliation. It exposes how the 'good will' shown by upper castes to the lower casts is coated with an attitude that treats them as secondary members of Hindu society.
