Event Description : 'The Anthropocene Observatory' Film Screening.

The Haus der Kulturen der Welt/House of World Cultures (HKW), Berlin, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, and Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi jointly present an international interdisciplinary workshop on “Ways of Thinking through the Anthropocene”. 

As part of the workshop a public screening of The Anthropocene Observatory, a project by the collective Territorial Agency (John Palmesino and Ann-Sofi Rönnskog), with curator Anselm Franke and artist Armin Linke, will present its latest film productions. The Anthropocene Observatory is a knowledge station, which pursues and documents the thesis of the “age of man” and its political, practical, institutional, and cultural formulation in, among other areas, international climate policy.  

The workshop on Friday, April 11 & Saturday, April 12, 2014 will bring together scientists, cultural practitioners and artists who will address and discuss questions and topics pertaining to the cultural, social, political and ethical ramifications of the thesis, that humanity has become the dominant agent of environmental change and thus has ushered in a new geological age – the Anthropocene. 

THE ANTHROPOCENE PROJECT is an initiative of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute, the Deutsches Museum, the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, 
Munich, and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, Potsdam.
