The Hungarian Revolution of 1848 was one of many of the European Revolutions of 1848 and closely linked to other revolutions of 1848 in the Habsburg areas. The revolution in the Kingdom of Hungary grew into a war for independence from the Austrian Empire, ruled by the Habsburg monarchy. Many of its leaders and participants, including Lajos Kossuth, István Széchenyi, Sándor Petőfi, József Bem are among the most respected national heroes in Hungarian history.
In this time’s book club, we will discuss the newer revelations and dimensions of the Revolution.
