Event Description : Gati Dance Forum in collaboration with Being Motion present Contact & Improvisation Meeting (CIM) Facilitated by Being Motion -Irene Sposetti & Johan Nilsson.

The workshop will help its participants access intuition and trust and enable non-verbal communication between them through its emphasis on listening with the whole body, listening through touch and inner presence. Aimed at widening versatility and ease in moving together in space, in and out of contact, this intensive will mainly focus on Contact Improvisation technique enhancing a state of released and effortless motion. Key Themes of the workshop include: Touch, Spirals, Liquid Center of Gravity, Momentum, light horizontal and vertical Lifts, Space and Composition in CI dialogues.

This intensive will also focus on how a CI dance can become a performative act and include the presence of an audience. How can the attention of the dancers be simultaneously present in the sense organs, in the contact dialogue with the partner and at the same time hold a compositional intention? There will be two afternoons of DISCUSSION where moments of reflection and sharing about the practice will be facilitated, looking into different themes related to dance, CI and Improvisation. There will be two evenings of JAM SESSIONS and PERFORMANCES with live music, in Zorba the Buddha. These evenings are open to all!

About The Artists :

BEING MOTION was created in 2011 by two artists/ musicians, Irene Sposetti & Johan Nilsson. Irene and Johan have been performing and offering teachings to dance and theatre companies, dance schools and academies, yoga centers, cultural institutes and numerous festivals all over Europe & Asia. They offer regular classes and workshops in Sweden, China and in India as well. They organise dance retreats and workshops in nature; awakening the connection between the body/movement with the natural environment and its ecological systems. They usually perform in duo collaborating with musicians in the frame of Improvisation, combining movement, music and spoken words. Their video "Moments of practice with Irene Sposetti & Johan Nilsson" won the bronze price in the CI video festival of Toronto 2013. Their dance practice is mainly inspired by Contact Improvisation, Bodywork, Release, B.M.C., Meditation Practices and Techniques of Improvisation for performance.
