Event Description : Theatre Mi Amor in association with Akshara Theatre presents 'My Diego My Art' a play in English on Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

This solo performance is a riveting account of the art and life of one of the most luminous painters of the 20th century – Frida Kahlo. The narrative, like her surreal paintings, is non-linear, based on free-association and is autobiographical, as it lucidly dissects the tumultuous events of her life. The actor, Sindhu Murthy, alternates between Frida and her imaginary friend in a schizophrenic spell, as she lays bare, the painter's obsessive love for her teacher and her husband, Diego Rivera - twice her age and diagnosed of infidelity by doctors! Essentially an intensely passionate love story of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, this play weaves together all ingredients that make for a life lived unapologetically - uncompromising honesty in art, romance, love affairs, infidelity, heart-break, loneliness, bisexuality and most importantly, courage. 'My Diego, My Art’ is Theatre Mi Amor’s no-holds-barred take on such lust for life. From being a style icon with native Mexican couture, to celebrating her bisexuality in a conservative Mexican society, Frida’s quirky inventiveness explores it all. This story  unfolds with dollops of Hispanic music, dance and poetry straight from her personal diary.
