Event Description : The School of Arts and Aesthetics invites you to a talk "The Business of Culture: Emergence of the Records Industry in India, 1900-1912" by Prof. Vibodh Parthasarathi
(Associate Professor, Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi)
Vibodh Parthasarathi maintains a multidisciplinary interest in communication policy, business history of creative industries and governance of media infrastructure. He is the co-editor of the critically acclaimed tri-series on Communication Processes (Sage) and of the multi-lingual collection L’idiot du Village Mondial (Editions Luc Pire). His research has been variously supported by the Ford Foundation, SSRC, HIVOS, India Foundation for the Arts and Open Society Foundation, whose country report on the digital media he anchored last year. Parthasarathi serves on the Board of the Centre for Internet & Society and the International Advisory Board of the India Media Centre, University of Westminster.
