Workshop Description : Scoring Dance Writing: A Lecture-Workshop on writing about dance with Gabriele Wittmann
How can you write about a dance production using more than your eyes? How can you transpone movement into language, mood and dramaturgy into sound and structure? In this Lecture-Workshop, Gabriele Wittmann will share some of her research: Using an excerpt from a contemporary production, 

we will go into several rounds of “transponing” the experienced artwork. We will chisel verbs in relation to Laban’s legacy, and also try out elements of her developing methodology called “Scoring Writing”.Open to all people interested in writing about dance. Gabriele Wittmann has been writing about dance for the past two decades. An author, critic and researcher, she has published extensively for in newspapers and magazines. She teaches fields related to dance theory in Frankfurt, where she is also developing a course exploring intersections between creative, scientific and journalistic approaches to language with practices generated from dance.
