A mutiny by native Indian Sepoys (soldiers) of the British East India Company, started on 10th May 1857, in the cantonment of Meerut near Delhi challenged the rule of the Company and caused the control to move to the British Monarchy, resulting into the British Colonial Raj for next 9 decades. The rebellion soon spread across the Northern & Central parts of India with Delhi playing a pivotal role in the 1st Indian War of Independence.
This weekend, we at Delhi Karavan will take you, Delhi lovers on a trip down the memory lane and explore the spots related to this historic event in Delhi and will re-create the tale of 1857 and the significance of Delhi in this great rebellion.
Walk presentation will be done in Zabaan-e-Dehli of 1857, a mix of Hindi/Urdu
