Event Description : "St. ART Delhi" is the biggest Street Art Festival in India ever. A joint-venture between International and Indian street artists on the common grounds of the streets taking over massive walls in three villages of Delhi and converting the urban environment into a permanent walking art gallery. The organisers of the festival believe that the power of street art lies in the influences that every artist absorbs from the street and re-works in his/her unique manner. Street artists develop a way of working that is strongly rooted on mural art, an art form that has an immediacy in the manner in which it reaches the public. Some of the questions this unique event hopes to address include, what is behind the production of a mural? What are the influences that an artist experiences in the city in which he works? How do street artists create a dialogue with the surroundings in which they work and how does this differ from their studio practice?
A month long exhibition will show works of major street artists from across the world together with a selection of the best Indian artists providing an in depth view of the "phenomenon" of Street Art and on its history from Graffiti to Public Art.
Different countries, different backgrounds, different art styles and different techniques united by the same streets: St.ART Delhi will be a unique opportunity to live and step in to the street art world.
The street art festival will also include a street art program, workshops, documentary screenings, talks, guided tours and an art jam session.
