Event Description : The CurtainCall Productions presents Anton Chekhov's 'On the Go' English Play.

This December, CurtainCall brings you a blend of CHEKHOV'S best short plays of all times.

1.The Boor (also known as The Bear) -Considered to be one of the best playrights by the russian author, the play revolves around the fickleness of feelings and commitment. It tells about how faithful a woman, even her husband had died, she was still faithful, and how irritated she was, after knowing that her husband had betrayed her, but she didn’t change, she still loved her husband very much by imprisoning herself in her house and receiving no one. Her faithful and personality made one man, Mr. Smirnov, finally fell in love with her, even it had been a confrontation, duel, and insulting each other. The main problem is she couldn’t pay her husband debt but Mr. Smirnov wanted her to pay, because he needed the many. This problem seems like a door open Mrs. Popov’s new life after about seven month imprisoning her herself. This play explores the ironies of life. It could happen today to life of any body.

2. The Lottery Ticket-"HOW MONEY CAN ALTER THE RELATIONSHIPS"
This is the basic idea of the play.
"The Lottery Ticket", Ivan Dmitritch and his wife imagine the vast splendors that would come had they won the lottery. Shown in this condensed work, Ivan and his wife realize that they have changing attitudes toward each other and their all important family.

3.A MARRIAGE PROPOSAL-Another play which is considered to be CHEKHOV'S best comedy playrights. Also considered to be ANTON CHECHOV'S MOST HILARIOUS COMEDY PLAYRIGHTS.
A MARRIAGE PROPOSAL explores the process of getting married and could be read as a satire on the upper middle class and courtship. The play points out the struggle to balance the economic necessities of marriage and what the characters themselves actually want. It shows the characters' desperation for marriage as comical.
In Chekhov's Russia, marriage was a mean of economic stability for most people. They married to gain wealth and possessions or to satisfy social pressure. The satire is conveyed successfully by emphasizing the couple's foolish arguments over small things. The main arguments in the play revolve around "The Oxen Meadows" and two dogs.
