Event Description : Delhi Karavan presents Nature Karavan - A morning amidst Flora & Fauna of Asola-Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary.

In 1876, when Carr Stephen noticed an old Fort some 5 Kms away from Surajkund. A century later, Archaeological Survey of India started excavating the area and found an historic settlement. A proper research revealed that the village was established by Raja Harshvardhan, who, some say, later assumed the title of Raja Anangpal and established a city, what we today call "Delhi".
This Anangpal established a fort and a water reservoir attached to a sluice dam in the middle of a dense forest, which was rich with scenic beauties and natural resources. This settlement, which can be called the predecessor of Delhi is called Anangpur and the dam which he built is Anangpur Dam.
It is the time, when we go and see, what made him choose this location and what made his successor, Anangpal II's son, Raja Surajpal Tomar establish a bigger pond near it, "The Surajkund".
This time, the Karavan will rise above the history and heritage talks and will advance to discover the reason, why these emperors chose the hillock in the middle of Asola Forest for settlements.
Our walk will start from the Manav Rachna International University and we will go deep into the forest of Asola. We shall rest at the fresh water lakes, which appear from absolutely nowhere and mesmerizes the environment. The range also offers a wide range of flora and fauna for nature and photography lovers.
