WALK TRAIL:
We will be covering the following monuments inside the Qutub Minar complex
• Imam Zamin Darga – The 16th century Sufi Saint who lived during the times of Sikander Lodhi
• Ala'i-Darwaza- The southern gateway of the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque was constructed by Alau'd-Din Khalji in 1311 CE
• The Qutub Minar- The foundation of this Minar was laid in 1199 CE for the use of the mu'azzin (crier) to give calls for prayer and raised the first storey, to which three more storeys were added by his successors from dynasties that later ruled Delhi.
• The Qubbat-ul-Islam Mosque- It is located at the north-east of Minar, it was built by Qutub-deen Aibak in 1198 CE. It is the earliest mosque built by the Delhi Sultans.
• The Iron Pillar in the courtyard which bears an inscription in Sanskrit in Brahmi script from the fourth century.
• The tomb of Iltutmish (ruled 1211-1236 CE)- The tomb was built in 1235 CE and is enclosed within plain square chamber of red sandstone, profusely carved with inscriptions.
• Ala'i Minar – The unfinished Minar stands to the north of Qutub Minar; it was commenced by Alau'd-Din Khalji (ruled 1290–1316 CE).
