Event Description : Guitar concert by Theophilus Benjamin & Tuh Le. As part of Guitar Concert Series.

Biographies: 

Theophilus Benjamin born in 1980, he grew up in a house where church music was a part of everyday life. He has a certificate diploma from the Trinity College London and has studied in masterclasses with Denis Azabagic, Johannes Moller, Zoran Dukic, Adam del Monte, Berta Rojas, Genevieve Chanut, Pirai Vaca and Roger Zimmerman. Over the past few years Theophilus has given performances as a soloist and accompanist and is also part of the New Delhi Guitar Quartet. He has been a regular participant at the Calcutta International Guitar Festival since its inception in 2010 and been a prize winner in the National Guitar competition organised there. Thanks to that award, he had the opportunity to attend the Thailand International Guitar Festival in November 2012. Theophilus was appointed Academic Support Consultant with Trinity College London for North India in August 2013 and is also teaching faculty for Guitar and Music Theory at Performers Collective School of Music and Delhi School of Music. 

Thu Le is a Vietnamese female guitarist who started learning guitar below the age of four with her father and at the age of five had her first public performance. She passed the entrance examination of the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music at the age of seven, making her the youngest student ever being admitted. Thu Le has given many concerts in Europe and Asia and also performed several times at the Hanoi Opera House with the ‘National Symphony Orchestra’ and the ‘National Orchestra of Opera and Ballet’. In 2001 recorded the first CD ‘Vietnamese Young Guitar Talents’ and 10 years later, her first solo CD was released ‘Classical Guitar Recital’. Beside performing, Le Thu has also taught in the National Conservatory of Music and Yamaha Music Foundation, both in Hanoi. She has been the head Guitar Department in Bridge Music Academy in New Delhi and nowadays is teaching at Institute of Music Dynamics in Gurgaon. In addition, Le Thu has won some national and international prizes in Guitar competitions: ‘Best Vietnamese Composition Performance’, National Guitar Competition of Vietnam (2000); ‘Best Guitarist from Asia’, Calcutta International Guitar Festival and Competition (2010); 3rd prize, Asia International Guitar Competition in Bangkok (2011); 3rd prize, International Guitar Festival and Competition in Romania, 2011; 3rd prize, Twents Guitar Festival and Competition in Holand (2013).
