Event Description : Dastkar Winter Weaves. 

Dastkar, in partnership with Delhi Tourism, presents the winter season handloom textiles special: - Dastkar WINTER WEAVES. This exhibition brings together the best of the rich regional handloom weaving, block-print & embroidery traditions from across the States of India. 
The focus of the exhibition is on seasonal Silks & Wools in a wide range of sarees, dupattas, running fabric, shawls, knits and made-up garments. 
The Dastkar WINTER WEAVES Food Court will have a variety of other delicious warm snacks and beverages too.
New at this season’s Dastkar WINTER WEAVES will be tussar silk weaves from Maharashtra, tangail sarees from West Bengal, punja dhurries from Punjab, a wonderful range of designed winter jackets and even exotic weaves all the way from Bhutan. 
Specially showcased will be a Hansiba Kutch embroidered garment collection designed by Dastkar. Dastkar WINTER WEAVES will feature tussar silks from Chhattisgarh & Bihar, ikat weaves in the Odisha & Andhra Pradesh traditions; jamdani & Banarasi brocades will gleam in the winter sunshine and the tiny dotted designs of finely worked bandhini will amaze the eye. Light and multi-hued Maheshwari & Chanderi cotton-silks will be available too.
Lovely kullu & kinnauri wool shawls from Himachal Pradesh will be present alongside a wide and colourful selection of Kutch shawls & stoles by several expert weavers from the Vankar community. Patchwork quilts will be available, as well as knitted sweaters, capes, gloves and socks. Authentic quality pashmina in both traditional and innovative modern designs will come from Kashmir and the famed Changthang plateau of Ladakh.
Kashmiri, kutchchi, kantha and sujni embroidered textiles and accessories will be present as well as dhurries from Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh, along with the revived namda felt rug tradition from Kashmir. To round off the Dastkar WINTER WEAVES experience, the afternoons of 27th ring to the sounds of Rajasthan’s Langa Manganiar musical performances, with additional Kalbeliya and Bhawai dance performances on Friday, 29th

Dastkar, a national NGO : working with crafts and craftspeople for over three decades, strongly believes in crafts as catalytic tool for social and economic empowerment and earning. Partnering with Delhi Tourism, it is developing the NATURE BAZAAR venue in Andheria Modh as a craft and cultural hub, linking South Delhi and Gurgaon.
