Event Description : Dastkar Nature 2013. 

The "Dastkar Nature 2013" event is one of the most anticipated rendezvous in every craft lover’s diary. This annual event is being held for the 2nd time at the permanent venue, NATURE BAZAAR, Kisan Haat at Andheria Modh in Delhi. Dastkar, in partnership with Delhi Tourism, is developing this venue as a year-round hub where traditional & innovative crafts and culture meet natural & eco-friendly products.

This year, Dastkar Nature 2013 promises to be even bigger and better than ever! Showcasing over 160 craftgroups, NGOs and small producer groups, as well as new designers working in contemporary ways with traditionally skilled craftspeople. The wonderfully rich diversity of our regional crafts will be represented by around 22 States and there will be Craft Demonstrations & Workshops where visitors can learn from and interact with the craftspeople themselves. The popular Food Court will also offer a range of regional delicacies to delight the taste buds.

Special features at the Dastkar Nature 2013 will include the metal inlay Bidri craft from Karnataka; innovative Pune Thamba copper-wares along with Kholapuri chappals. Phool Patti ka kaam, the embroidered appliqué work from Uttar Pradesh, will also be available along with the ephemeral floral art of Sholapith from West Bengal.

At Dastkar Nature 2013 you will find all you need to decorate your home. Papier-mâché crafts from Bihar & Rajasthan, Dhokra and Bastar metal artworks, pottery, Bagh block-print home linens and furniture in wood, cane or Sarkhanda grass. Floors will welcome stylish Jhawaja woven rugs from Rajasthan or dhurries from Uttar Pradesh.  From the South, Tamil Nadu brings paper lamps & hammocks, Kerala brings its murals, lacquered wood items and banana fibre decoratives come from Karnataka, alongside hand-painted Kalamkari fabrics and woven jute dhurries from Andhra Pradesh. Dastkar Nature 2013 will bring you a variety of traditional regional painting styles too; from Madhubani and Gond folk art to Rajasthan’s Kavad, Pichwai & Miniature paintings, and Patachitra scrolls from West Bengal. 

Dastkar Nature 2013 offers the wide selection of jewellery, accessories & traditional footwear that craft enthusiasts expect. As always, regional textile traditions from Bandhini & Leheriya tie-dye along with Ajrakh, Bagh, Bagru and Dabu block prints will be present; natural-dye Odisha tribal Kotpat and Assamese Bodo weaves, tussar silks, fine Chanderi and Maheshwari cotton-silks, ikats from Andhra Pradesh & Odisha, organic & khadi cottons to sophisticated Banarasi brocades.  Embroidered textiles will include Suf and other Kutchchi embroideries, Lambani & Kasuti from Karnataka, West Bengal Kantha and Bihar’s Sujini.
