Event Description : Nitanjali Art Gallery presents 'Through the Looking Glass' an exhibition of sculptures and an installation works by Amin Gulgee.
Through the Looking Glass, an exhibition of sculptures and an installation work by the renowned Karchi-based sculptor AMIN GULGEE. Curated by Elizabeth Rogers, this marks the second solo exhibition of the artist to be held in New Delhi/ India. The show boasts of 17 works of sculpture, and one installation work.
Gulgee's work explores, through his chosen medium of copper, realms of abstraction and organic forms and motifs. His explorations perforate the dimensions of matter and space, deploying calligraphic strokes and letters, architectonic structures, and organic matter such as chapatis, deconstructed faces/heads, and hands. Immensely complex and fluidly simple, varying in scale, his sculptural works transcend limiting definitions of the medium and matiere. He has truly forged a highly personal lexicon and language.
