Subject : " Festive Glooms Hover Over Yamuna "
Esteemed Sir,
Greetings
We take this opportunity to introduce YFF as a Registered Social Welfare Organization working on prevention of pollution in the major rivers as envisaged in the Article 51 -A(g) & 21 of the constitution of India.
At YFF, we has been actively implementing our "Pushpanjali Prawaha Kalash" Activity since over a Decade across several cities of our Country.
Hon'ble Sir, It goes without saying that ours is highly religious and spiritual country.. In Delhi alone it takes 42000 Kg's of flowers every day for people to convey their obeisance, gratitude, devotion, adoration, reverence, veneration etc to Gods as well as to their dear departed. Then with the flowers comes statue figures of deities, paper, plastic's, coconut husks etc which are immersed into our Rivers.
Through our Pushpanjali Prawaha Kalash activity we have been working for the cause of Prevention & Controlling this pollution for over a Decade. The "Pushp " and other Offerings made to Dieties are destined for a Holy "Prawaha". The objective of our "Kalash" is to contain the "Prawaha". [Kalash Height : 5 Ft. Width : 4.5 Ft. & each Kalash can contain 500KG's of disposed Samagri]
We have formulated a simple 2 step process ..(1) to collect flowers and other worship- material from Temples, Mosques, Churches, Gurudwara's, shops, colonies & most importantly at Bridges & Banks of Rivers ; (2) to send this material to the processing site where it is sorted out in different piles like paper, flowers, plastic's, coconut husks, etc. The biodegradable waste is turned into compost and the rest is recycled. The volume of Disposed Puja Samagri that we gather is so large that it is unimaginable to picture the volumes that find their way into Yamuna.
We believe that if YFF steps up the size of Pushpanjali Prawaha Kalash activity locations, including key locations like Bridges & Banks of Yamuna, the damage can be largely controlled.
Citing this catastrophic damage of normal days and analysing the further extent of damage potential during the oncoming Festive Season when several lakhs of people add to the process especially during Navratri's , we find it apt to believe that a "Festive Gloom Hovers Over Yamuna". And nobody denies that Prevention has always been termed as a better phrase of Cure.
And citing the recent ruling of imposition of a Fine of Rs.5000/- for immersing Puja Samagri into the Rivers, Pushpanjali Prawaha Kalash activity has been pleasantly endorsed as a suitable solution to the situation by people of all religions.
Hon'ble Sir, YFF is Keen to meet the forthcoming Festive Challenge and we believe we can efficiently avoid the Huge Volumes of Puja Samagri from reaching the Yamuna River for which we need Direction, Advise and Guidance from Your Esteemed Self to enable YFF through available resources, if any, by means of Grants etc that may be available with the State's Machinery/Systems to enable us to Step-Up our activity size which currently stands at only 4 Prawaha Kalash in Delhi, although Nationally the Prawaha Kalash count stands at 380.
Hon'ble Sir, along with this Letter we are also submitting Photographs and a CD with movie-clips of people immersing Samagri into the River during 2015 April Navratri's, this is despite the Applicable Fine, we have pictured atleast tens of thousands of people doing so.
Yours Sincerely,
Gopi Dutt Aakash
