Event Description : '19/87' a fiction film about Shillong.
Winner of Best Film, Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay at the Gauhati International Film Festival, 2011.

Synopsis: '19/87' is Wanphrang and Dondor's debut fiction film. Shot with a guerilla camera style that mostly involved non-actors and real life settings, the film deals with an unusual or rather uncommon friendship that developed over a very tense period of time in the history of Shillong. The story revolves around a Muslim tailor with the gift of prophecy and a Khasi youth who accidentally strays into his solitary path. The film won best film, best screenplay and best cinematography at the Gauhati International Film Festival, 2011 and was nominated at the 4th International and documentary and short film festival, Kerela 2011 as well as the Jaipur International Film festival 2011. It has also been screened at various institutions including Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Indian Habitat Center and at a recent academic conference in Hong Kong led by the University of Rome.
