Roy). Those periods when relationships and marriages were not acceptable in India between two different religions this story remains as a symbol of revolt for sincere and pure love.

The novel recounts the love story of Amit Ray, a barrister educated at Oxford, who’s virulent Intellectualism reveals itself in its opposition to all forms of tradition. He meets Labannya in a Car accident and the romance build up in the misty hills of Shillong. Though the novel is Primarily set in Shillong, it was written when Rabindranath Tagore was in Bangalore.
