Taking the stage with Sharik Hasan are Adam Larson on the saxophone, Philippe Lemm on drums and Raviv Markowitz on bass. Each one, an accomplished musician, with numerous awards to their names, this ensemble comprises artistes who are among the most sought-after on the New York jazz scene.
Sharik Hasan is one of the leading pianists and composers of his generation to emerge from India. He has spent several years studying jazz and classical music in France and the USA. He has performed at venues all over the world including the Blue Note (New York), Panama Jazz Festival, Nancy Jazz Festival (France), Lincoln Centre (New York) and has shared the stage with luminaries such as John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Wayne Shorter, Terri Lyne Carrington, Adam Nussbaum, Ralph Peterson, and David Liebman among others.
Adam Larson is a rising star in the New York jazz scene. Described by critic Howard Reich of The Chicago Tribune as "a player for whom the word `prodigious` was coined". Upon completion of his Bachelor's degree at The Manhattan School of Music in May of 2012, Larson was selected as a member of the inaugural Manhattan School of Music, Jazz Institute, to continue his studies as a Master's student.
Philippe Lemm was born in Amsterdam where he attended the conservatory and received a Bachelor's degree in Music. He performed at internationally known festivals and stages such as: North Sea Jazz Festival, Kennedy Centre (DC) Bimhuis, Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall.
Raviv Markovitz won the 3rd place in the 2011 International Society of Bassists, Jazz Bass Competition and was selected as one of 15 semi-finalists for the 2009 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Bass Competition. He was selected to the 2009 GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble, the 2010 YoungArts Jazz Fellows, and the 2008 Vail Jazz Workshop under John Clayton. Currently he is one of the most sought after young bass players in New York.
