Event Description : Lightcube Film Society presents Pinhole Sessions 2 film screenings which are as follows : 
The Red Balloon (1956) / Albert Lamorisse / 34mins
A boy makes friends with a seemingly sentient balloon, and it begins to follow him. It follows the boy to school, to the bus, and to church. Boy and balloon play together in the streets of Paris and try to elude a gang of boys that wants to destroy the balloon. Winner of the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and there is almost no dialog spoken in the film.
Germ (2010) / Snehal Nair / 23mins
Germ is the story of a filmmaker in search of a visual narrative, exploring what we have built on the land we live on and what previously existed. A cache of found passport-sized photographs inspire the filmmaker to start reconstructing his past from the scratch. Winner of Best Non-Feature Film, 58th National Film Awards 2010.

 The idea of the short film is one borne out of convenience. Films of a shorter duration are as old as cinema itself (in the early days, these films were called two-reelers) – but this fact owes itself to the early, nascent and experimental phase of cinema: when people who had conceived the medium had no real idea of what to do with it.
