Event Description : Wings Cultural Society presents 'A Date with Desire’ Hindustani Play (Based on Dr. Zakir Hussain’s Story Abbu Khan Ki Bakri)
This play is based on Dr. Zakir Hussain’s story named Abu Khan Ki Bakri. This is an attempt at raising questions and enabling dialogues about women’s desire for freedom or for that matter, the desire for freedom irrespective of gender. The plot revolves around a goat which symbolizes woman. The tamed and domesticated animal decides to attain freedom and takes this up as a challenge. It breaks free and reaches the woods where the Wolf lives. The Wolf here is a symbol of the predator, the evil man. The aspiring innocent goat is attacked by the dominative and experienced Wolf. With the strength of desire, the goat puts up an admirable struggle that almost makes her win this battle but finally, due to more practical reasons like experience, skill and physical strength, it succumbs to the Wolf’s charges. The innocent but powerless goat fights bravely to win her battle for freedom and dies.
