Event Description : Artists Alliance for Uttarakhand presents a music concert.
No problem is insurmountable, but in our day and age it seems our cynicism is. It is to crack this conundrum that a still-growing group of musicians, the Artists Alliance for Uttarakhand, is coming together to bring the denizens of Delhi an evening of music which is all about driving the collection of necessary supplies for the flood affected in Uttarakhand. Yes, it may be a man-made disaster and the political bickering might be annoying. But we can't ignore the suffering of the people of Uttarakhand who have lost loved ones, rendered homeless and for whom hope isn't shining as brightly as it does for us.
What we certainly can't ignore is the fact that we can make a difference.
Bit by bit, the relief efforts have gained strength. The Indian Army is the most visible face of the rescue and relief initiative. But alongside, there are others who are working tirelessly to get the supplies to the ones who need it most. One of these organizations is Goonj (goonj.org) which is focusing on collections and logistics to get the supplies across. The Artists Alliance for Uttarakhand is aiding the collection drive by donating the talent and skills it has at hand.
Help us in helping Uttarakhand rise above this disaster as we sing you the tunes you love. Donate heartily and Gooonj will ensure that the supplies and the money reach the mother who is wondering where her child's next meal will come from. The people whose children need mosquito nets to stave off the epidemic that surely follows natural disasters, the tarpaulin to stay dry and many other supplies. All of these supplies will be easy for you to source - from within your home, in your store, or your neighborhood shop. Dig deep and you'll find them.
