Aesthetics of Sound Design and Field Recording with Yasuhiro Morinaga
This 2-day workshop will help the participants understand Morinaga’s previous works through cinema, installations and his own recordings and will share the importance and aesthetics of what the role of sound is in everyday life. The first day of the workshop will be discussion based, while the second day will involve the participants in walking around the venue to listen to and record sounds in the urban environment. Based on this experience, participants will share the idea of sonic culture in New Delhi. This workshop is open to anybody who is interested in playing with sound.
Yasuhiro Morinaga is a Japanese sound designer and music director. Known particularly for his work within the Asian Independent Cinema field, Morinaga is also a field recording artists specialising in outland ethnic music, oral communication, and wildlife and environmental sounds. Morinaga’s eclectic approach to sound design for film has been presented in film festivals in Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Toronto. He has also designed and produced sound in a project for SONY’s monolithic design exhibition at Milano Salone 2010. More information on Morinaga on www.yasuhiromorinaga.com
