Event Description : The Gati Dance Forum presents 'Creative Laboratory In Cross-Cultural Exploration' with Annalouise Paul.

The Creative Laboratory will look at new approaches for exploring contemporary dance and traditional rhythms. Dancers will learn and adapt contemporary choreographic phrases for further exploration through task-based exercises and improvisation using primordial numbering systems and rhythms. The focus of the workshop will ask how we can innovate, hybridise and maintain authenticity in the process.

Open to all dancers and choreographers interested to explore, exchange and discover new processes. An understanding of rhythm or basic principles, traditional dances and cross-cultural practices will help but not essential.

Annalouise Paul is an independent choreographer who has been creating intercultural dance-theatre since 1988 crossing cultures and art forms from a rigorous research into new movement language. Based in Sydney, she trained at the Laban Centre in London in contemporary dance and flamenco from key maestros in Spain and later in Los Angeles developing further techniques working in feature films and commercial media.
