Synopsis: Tomás Alonso is a farmer living in the vast solitude of a sunken valley in the middle of steppes and deserts. It is a decent man and serene. Only sometimes, only certain evenings, Thomas plays the violin.
The rainy day in which the violinist buries his wife with his son James, aged of twelve, after returning home, they took the only photograph they had of her, a portrait in her youth, when she was posing candidly in the sunny shores of the sea. That night, in front of the kitchen fire, both are sworn courage, as two archaic soldiers undertaking a battle against loneliness. Obsessed with photograph of his mother at the sea, Santiago asked to his father to speak of that place to tell him whether or not there oxen in the seas. The violinist, who has never been out of the mountains, invents imagines of the sea, an impossible place, naive and magnificent.
