Event Description : Akshara Theatre presents 'The Trial of Saint Joan' dramatised reading in English. 
A debate is raging today about the terrible mindset in society that permits atrocities against women. It is in this context that Akshara presents a dramatised reading of the Trial Scene of Bernard Shaw’s play Saint Joan, which was first performed in 1923, and for which he received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925. 
Joan was born in France in 1412, 600 years ago, burnt by the Inquisition as a witch in 1431 and finally canonized as a saint of the Roman Catholic Church in 1920. There will be an interactive discussion with the audience after the show.
