Event Description : The Gati Dance Forum presents Kalaripayattu Classes with Sumesh P.B.
Kalaripayattu is one of the oldest living traditions of martial training and physical cultures in the world. The aim of this class is to develop the body in a way that its movements are completely controlled by a fully mature and alert mind. The class will enable dancers to recollect, reinforce and rejuvenate their inherent energy. This class is open to dancers, martial artists, and yoga and theatre practitioners. With an emphasis on correct breathing techniques for each specific movement and posture, this practice is ideal for professional dancers who want to develop their agility, concentration and strength.
Sumesh P.B. is working as Theatre Teacher cum Actor and martial arts teacher. He is trained under Sensei Manoj K.S from Bodhidharma Martial Art Academy, Kerala in Karate-do (Black Belt 1st Dan, Japanese Style), Kobu-do (Okinawan Martial Arts) and Kalaripayattu (Kerala Martial Art Form). He also had his training in Folk Dance (Devarattam) and Chillambu (Tamil Nadu Martial Art Form) under Koothupattrai exponent, Raja Ravi Varma. He has the license to teach Martial Arts (Karate-do) awarded by the Bodhidharma Martial Arts Academy (the temple of Martial Arts), Kerala.
