Event Description : 'Woman's Role and Destiny in Magda Szabo's Works' Lecture by Dr. Edit V. Gilbert.
Edit V. Gilbert, Ph.D, dr. habil, Associate Professor at University of Pécs on Department of Literary Theory and Modern Literature M.A. in Russian and Hungarian at the University of Szeged, leads courses on 20th century world literature, mainly Russian and Hungarian novels and their comparative analysis. She published and edited books (Ways to Master and Margarita by M. Bulgakov), one of Hungarian translators of Lyudmila Ulitskaya's works. Her most recent research interest is bibliotheraphy. Her current project is: From Periphery to Centre: www.pecsdecentrum.extra.hu. This project examines the different literary and
cultural trends of 16 countries/language areas prevailing in the second half of the 20th century, starting from the "Russian story".
The current lecture analyzes the novels and the life of the famous and important Hungarian writer Magda Szabó.
